Areas of Teaching
New Testament and early Christian literature, with particular interest in the gospels.

Research Activities and Interests
Biblical education, adult biblical literacy, first-century culture and archaeology in their relation to the formation of earliest Christian communities and their writings in the Mediterranean region.

Work in Progress
Currently working on three projects:

  1. Collaborating with Flinders University department of archaeology on a cultural and archaeological study of the early Christian communities in the Lycus Valley of south west Turkey, especially located near the ancient site of Colossae;
  2. Completing a study on the gospel stories of Jesus' death in terms of the abuse of Jesus;
  3. Investigating the appreciation which early Christian writers had about the body of Jesus.
