Research Institute - Biblical Archaeological Society
Purposes
The purpose of the Adelaide College of Divinity Biblical Archaeological Society (ACDBAS) is to provide a forum for staff and students to study the principles of archaeology and the archaeological sites of the ancient world that are relevant to the study of the Bible and theology.
The Society also provides information for students who are intending to travel to the Middle East and a forum in which those who have travelled to the Mediterranean can reflect on their experiences. (Information about the course THEO 3210 Study Tour: Lands of the Bible is available.)
Membership
The Society is primarily for students who are enrolled in the Adelaide College of Divinity or the Flinders University School of Theology, but others who have an interest in the study of the Bible, theology and archaeology may also apply for membership.
Members will be requested to cover administrative costs by paying a nominal annual membership fee (currently $5) which will be decided at the Annual General Meeting.
The Executive of the Society will be constituted by at least three officers, including a Chair, Vice-Chair and Secretary/Treasurer, who will be elected at the Annual General Meeting from among the members.
Meetings
The Society will meet at least four times a year for approximately one-and-a-half hours.
