Career opportunities in Philosophy

Philosophy is now a year 11 and 12 SACE subject which is being taught for the first time this year in secondary schools in South Australia. It is beginning to be taught in many primary schools also. Philosophy graduates are in demand at the moment as teachers in both areas and have an opportunity to contribute to the development of curriculum in this new and exciting growth area in education.

As well as teaching Philosophy in schools and in Universities, Philosophy graduates have made careers in the Public Service, and in business and industry. There is a demand for trained Ethicists in various public sectors, especially hospitals. Any area in which critical thinking, analytic skills and research abilities are valued will be one in which Philosophy graduates will be sucessful.
