The Centre for Applied Philosophy was established in 1994. Full membership
of the Centre is open to University staff and post-graduate students from
Flinders University, the University of Adelaide and the University of
South Australia who are working in the area of Applied Philosophy. Associate
membership is open to academic staff, research staff or post-graduate
students from other universities, tertiary institutions, public and private
research bodies and governmental and semi-governmental authorities in
Australia and overseas working in the area of Applied Philosophy.
The general operations of the Centre are overseen by a Management Committee.
This committee consists of a Director and six other members. The management
committee is elected from nominations of interested CAP members (where
nominations exceed seven). Eligibility to nominate has recently been extended
to include associate members. The committee appoints the Director from
its own members. The Director has executive powers over the operation
of the Centre.

Dr. Ian Hunt (Director of the Centre, Associate Professor and Head
of Discipline in philosophy at Flinders University)
Dr. Lynda Burns (Lecturer in Philosophy and Director, Philosophy
for Schools Program at Flinders University)
Dr. Brian Stoffell (Public Health, Flinders University)
Dr. Gary Sauer-Thompson (Parliamentary Researcher, Parliament House)
Rodney Allen (Lecturer in Philosophy at Flinders University)
Dr. Peter Woolcock (Philosophy for Schools, University of South
Australia)
Sue Knight (Lecturer in Education at University of South Australia)
The CAP Management Committee meets a minimum of four times over the year
to plan future activities and to monitor the Centre's progress. It is
also responsible for the production of an Annual Report which is forwarded
to the University Research Committee.
The Centre also established an Advisory Board appointed by the Management
Committee, consisting of a small number of distinguished associate members
who wish to be involved significantly in the work of the Centre.
