Centre for Applied Philosophy (CAP)

Welcome to CAP

The Centre for Applied Philosophy provides a focus for ongoing research in the application of philosophical principles in community debates and issues of public policy. It also aims to provide a forum for discussion of public policy issues between philosophers and practising professionals which should lead to interactions between the University and the wider community in the development of public policy positions. The Centre aims to publish collections which focus on policy issues in an Australian context. The Centre has published collections of essays on recent changes to industrial relations law, euthanasia, and survival of the ethos of universities. Our most recent conference on Designer Lifestyles held early in 2000 CAP looked at the issue of redefining human life through new biotechnologies.
