Two book contract for Ben Chandler

Ben Chandler from the School of Humanities (English, Creative Writing and Australian Studies) who undertook a PhD in Creative writing entitled “Flight of the Dragon: A Comparative Study of Heroes in Japan and the West as Represented in Modern Fantasy Genre Fiction” recently signed a two-book contract with Random House Australia.  Random House Australia is keen to publish the entire series of six books, which could mean that Ben will be producing one novel-length creative work based on his research every year for the next six years (starting in September 2010). The first book in the series is provisionally titled LORD OF STORMS. Ben also has two academic chapters due out in December 2009 and March 2010 respectively. The first applies Roland Barthes' theories of the Writerly Text to video game narratives and the second deals with the nature of Japanese heroism in /anime/.
