From the Executive Dean's Desk

It's that time again- the campus and buildings are about to be filled with students and the academic year has started. I know that for many of you it has been here for a long time. I hope that it will be a good year. I would like to welcome new staff who will be introduced at the next Faculty Forum. At present the Faculty appears to have filled its targets - an excellent result. The Government's decisions on the Cutler and Bradley Reviews will be released in the next week, it is anticipated. That, together with the Planning being undertaken by the VC and the senior management for a new Strategic Plan 2010-14, will set the stage for the University's way forward.

Work is continuing on the pilot workload scheme. I appreciate the feedback and the complexity of the task which is being undertaken to ensure as far as possible, there is an equitable distribution of work. I look forward to continuing dialogue on the matter. I would like to thank everyone for the effort being put into OHS&W - it has made a difference. Can I remind you that we are trying to make sure the workplace is safe and that we live up to being a green University - so excess electrical appliances, candles and other flammable materials should be not kept here.

I look forward to using the Newsletter as a communication tool and congratulate those involved in its creation. Please use it to make sure others know what you are doing. Also, because so many of you do such great and interesting things, don't be shy- let the Faculty and Marketing and Communication know. That way we can all celebrate your successes.
