Resources - The Law Library
The central site of the Flinders University Library contains a separate Law Library. It is on the third floor of the brand new extension and provides excellent facilities (as well as amazing views over Adelaide).
At the moment, the Law Collection contains 45,000 volumes and it should
soon increase its size to over 60,000. It includes not only books and journals
but a wide range of micro-fiche publications and facilities for accessing
CD-ROM and remote legal data bases. The Law Library also has its own Reserve Collection.
The University's first Law Librarian, Helen Culshaw, was formerly the
Supreme Court Librarian and has brought a wealth of experience to Flinders.
Amanda Nixon is the Law Reference Librarian. Apart from having a background in sociology and history, she also has a Graduate Diploma in Legal Studies and has worked as a librarian for a large law firm. She has a particular interest in computer-based research.
Helen and Amanda are assisted by several other staff.
Legal Studies students will need to use many other parts of the Library but the Law Library is most likely to be their central resource.
