Chris is a graduate from the Adelaide Law School and and is also a barrister and solicitor. He has worked as an associate in the South Australian Supreme Court, as a researcher to the Royal Commission into the Non-medical Use of Drugs and as a policy officer in both the Premier's Department and the South Australian Health Commission. From 1985 to 1990 he advised the Minister for Health on reforms to public health, drug and tobacco laws and policy relating to HIV/AIDS. His PhD is from the department of Community Medicine at the University of Adelaide, where he also lectured for 4 years. In 1999 he was seconded to the Department of Environment and Heritage to review environment protection and biodiversity legislation. He continues to provide policy advice to the Department. Chris' main areas of research interest are in environment law and public health law (on which he completed a book and wrote chapters for Halsbury's Laws of Australia.). Chris is also a co-director of the National Centre for Public Health Law. He teaches in Constitutional Law, Environmental Law and Law and Medicine.
