School of Law: Law for Commerce students

Following a restructure of commerce law teaching staff at the end of 2001, the teaching of most law topics for the Bachelor of Commerce degree is now undertaken by the School of Law and other business related degrees.

The commerce law topics aim to give business students an understanding of general legal principles which apply in commercial life. Topic offerings commence with an introductory subject, Introduction to Business Law, which deals with a range of principles including particularly negligence and contract law. Students who complete that may then undertake other commerce law topics, including Corporations Law, Banking and Finance Law, Dispute Management (offered in Summer 2004), Personal and Corporate Insolvency Law and Taxation Law and Practice (which will continue to be taught by the Commerce School). A Masters level topic, Legal Aspects of International Business, is also available to students enrolled in the School of Commerce's Master of Business Administration (International Business).

Students must be enrolled in a relevant business or commerce degree at Flinders University in order to be eligible to undertake these topics. Further details on these courses can be obtained from the Flinders University Courses and Programs page.

Lecture Handouts for commerce law topics are available on WebCT @ Flinders.
