Student Feedback
The best aspects were the interaction with real clients, as it is the only real opportunity in the degrees to have such an experience. Having real lawyers to work with for advice was excellent and I believe that I am confident now to begin working with clients for a firm.
- The client contact was excellent. This aspect of the topic really puts interviewing firmly in the realm of reality. Nothing in Admin/interviewing or Lawyering prepares you for the client who just wants to gush out all this info, sidetracks you and is confused. Also there was a real sense of helping people who felt lost.
- Seminars! Don’t leave home without them! There was a very strong link between the seminars and practice. What a great way to meld theory and practice.
- One of the best aspects of the topic was working with other students as a team. Although we have done good group work before especially in Con[stitutional] Law, this was about everyone pitching in to make sure clinic worked efficiently and that clients were given the best advice. Also working with new colleagues was very enjoyable. I learned much from them and have made long time friendships. Please keep the Adelaide Flinders nexus - it works well.
- Best aspect of the topic was being able to express my creativity through the project.
- Spacing of assessment delivery was well thought out.
- The best aspect of the topic was the support from all supervisors.
It is very hard for me to not speak highly of this topic. Judging by the enquiries I have had, it will be full house for you this summer and next year. Thank you so much for your support this semester
It was a fantastic topic. I developed confidence in my practical abilities through working in the supportive clinical setting, and gained an invaluable insight into legal practice and the legal profession.
Thankyou again for allowing me to be part of this subject. It has been the most valuable experience I have had at university. If you do ever need volunteers over other breaks or at any other time please contact me, I would love to be involved.
I’m [now] working as a clerk and will be starting as a junior solicitor at XXX as soon as I get admitted. I will be working in Personal Injury/ Workers Comp which is exactly what I wanted to be doing…Community Legal Prac certainly helped me with my confidence with clients - it has helped me in the position I am in now with interviewing them.
