Research and Research Higher Degrees Committee
The Research and Research Higher Degrees Committee oversees Research and Research Higher Degrees matters in the Faculty. The Committee is responsible for the review and implementation of research and research higher degrees policies and procedures. The Committee is comprised of representatives from across the Faculty’s Schools and Departments and postgraduate student representatives.
TERMS OF REFERENCE
To be responsible to the Faculty Board and/or the Executive Dean, as appropriate, for the following:
- To advise the Faculty Board on matters concerning research higher degrees and particularly aspects of the policies and procedures which might need modification to accommodate the requirements of research higher degree candidature within the Faculty;
- To administer matters concerning research higher degree students on the delegated authority from the Faculty Board;
- To investigate and advise on policies and procedures which will enhance the study experience and will support the on-time completion of research higher degree students. The Committee will also ensure that research students’ views are sought on these matters;
- To provide advice to the Faculty Board on research policy matters;
- To advise on policy concerning the Faculty Research budget and to oversee the administration of that budget;
- To advise on the Outside Studies Program and Conference Leave schemes within the Faculty and to oversee the administration of OSP and Conference Leave;
- To co-ordinate other matters relating to the administration of research within the Faculty.
