SYMPOSIUM
WRITING LONDON: POST-COLONIAL PERSPECTIVES ON ARRIVALS IN THE METROPOLIS
Centre for Research in the New Literatures in English (CRNLE),
English Dept.,
Flinders University
Penneshaw, Kangaroo Island
8 – 10 December, 2003
To resolve the confusion caused by the initial title of the CRNLE symposium
'LEE KOK LIANG & WRITING LONDON: POST-COLONIAL PERSPECTIVES ON ARRIVALS
IN THE METROPOLIS, please take note of the following.
At the symposium we will be celebrating the publication of Lee Kok Liang's
first previously unpublished novel London Does Not Belong To Me, edited by
Syd Harrex and Bernard Wilson. While we expect that some papers at the conference
will focus on Lee Kok Liang's work, most papers will be on the broader theme
of colonials travelling to London.
We plan to referee, select and edit papers for book publication (as is our
custom). Incidentally, the past three conferences have resulted in three books:
Alas, for the Pelicans! Flinders, Baudin and Beyond, Adelaide: Wakefield Press,
2002, pp. 221), and two others due for publication November this year.
AT THIS STAGE WE STILL WELCOME EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST AND A 300-WORD ABSTRACT
OF YOUR PROPOSED PAPER BY 30th SEPTEMBER, 2003.
