Professor Graeme Harper, BA MLitt DCA PhD

Graeme Harper (aka Brooke Biaz) was awarded the first doctorate (DCA) in creative writing in Australia. Following the award of the NSW Premier's Writers Fellowship and the Literature Board's inaugural Qantas Award for New Writers, he left Australia to study with Malcolm Bradbury et al for a PhD in creative and critical writing at the University of East Anglia (UK). He is founding CEO of the UK Centre for Creative Writing Research Through Practice, founder and co-editor of New Writing: the International Journal for the Practice and Theory of Creative Writing , a member of the executive committee of the UK National Association of Writers in Education (NAWE) and of the Arts Council of England's Consultancy Committee on Creative Writing in Higher Education. His latest work of fiction is the DVD work Dancing on the Moon (Eclipse/National Endowment for the Arts, 2003) and his new collection of short stories is contracted for submission in August 2004.
