Conference theme

Within and between the Old and New Worlds there have been numerous and ongoing instances of contact, communication and creation by and between cultures, social and linguistic groups, institutions, discourses, individuals, and many others. The conference invites papers addressing such experiences from a wide range of perspectives across the social sciences, humanities and sciences. Papers are invited that treat the theme from the point of view of, among other possible disciplines, sociology; politics; history; linguistics (including second language acquisition, socio-linguistics, and psycholinguistics); literature; creative writing; cultural studies; geography; biotechnology; communication studies; tourism; environmental studies; film, TV and video; art; journalism; and philosophy. While proposals linked to the conference theme are particularly encouraged, other proposals are also welcome and will be given full consideration.
