Trudy is a staff member of the School of Education working with students studying at the undergraduate and graduate level towards a Bachelor of Education, and with postgraduate students in Masters and Doctor of Philosophy Degrees. She also works with staff in the Graduate Certificate in Mathematics and Science Education.
Trudy came to Flinders University from the Department of Education and Children’s Services where she worked for 17 years as a primary school teacher, ICT Coordinator, Assistant Principal and Educational Consultant at the Technology School of the Future. She has experience teaching students from Reception to Year 12 and has worked in rural and metropolitan schools. She is currently President of the Computers in Education Group of South Australia (CEGSA) and Board Member of the Australian Council for Computers in Education (ACCE). Trudy has been recognised as an Advanced Skills Teacher since 1993. She was awarded Educator of the Year from CEGSA in 2003 and received an Innovative Teacher award for the Microsoft Asia-Pacific Region in 2004.
Research Interests
Trudy’s research is broadly concerned with the use of digital media on schools, teaching and learning, particularly in terms of leadership, organisational change and pedagogy. Her current research projects are:
- How Interactive whiteboards can they be used as a catalyst for building professional learning communities and pedagogic change
- The delivery of ICT learning using contemporary learning environments
