An examination of the professional socialisation process is
critical in changing the way graduates are trained and how they are
supported post graduation. This article summarises key mechanisms to
facilitate socialisation from recent socialisation studies undertaken
in the fields of medicine, physical therapy nursing, occupational
therapy, and certified athletic coaches. The article outlines the
design of a survey of undergraduate university property program
directors in the Pacific Rim to determine their awareness of
professional socialisation and how the development of graduates'
professional socialisation is accommodated at orientation and in
subsequent years of their program.
