Project Aims

1.

To employ an innovative sampling procedure to establish contact with a sample group of families who are at risk.

2.

To document the demographic indicators, as well as person (parent and child), family, and community characteristics of risk and resilience, including the extent of service use among the families.

3.

To examine differences between families who are high and low service users on various factors including child adjustment, social capital, personal and family strengths, available resources, and barriers to resources use.

4.

To utilise the research findings at a community level to promote some common understanding between the service providers and families of the way in which barriers to service use can be overcome.
