Aims

1.

To
employ an innovative sampling procedure to
establish contact with a sample group of
families who are at risk.

2.
|
To
document the demographic indicators, as well as
person (parent and child), family, and community
characteristics of risk and resilience,
including the extent of service use among the
families.

3.
|
To
examine differences between families who are
high and low service users on various factors
including child adjustment, social capital,
personal and family strengths, available
resources, and barriers to resources
use.
|
|
4.
|
To
utilise the research findings at a community
level to promote some common understanding
between the service providers and families of
the way in which barriers to service use can be
overcome.
