Group Management

Group management is important for maintaining on-task activities and dealing with students that may be gifted, socially challenged, disruptive or lazy. Additional management techniques may be employed or utilised with social skilling.
Some examples of effective group management strategies include the following -
 - Ensure that the target student is grouped with members that are proven to be constructive
 - Groups may be pre-trained in techniques that will assist them in ensuring that the target student will be readily accepted and encouraged to perticipate appropriately
 - Training the target student with appropriate collaborative and social skills
 - Assigning different roles for the individuals in each group
 - Assigning one student to an observation role. This student can report back to the teacher on where they think the group might be struggling and what strategies they believe would assist the group.
