Home Schooling
In South Australia the Education Act (1972) specifies
that children of compulsory school age must be enrolled in a Government
or non-Government school. The age of school attendance is from 6
to 15 years old. The Minister for Education and Childrenís Services
has delegated the authority to approve school exemptions from attendance
at school for Home Education to the Executive Director of Schools.
Exemption from a school is usually for a period of 12 months.

Home Education is a choice exercised with the full knowledge
of responsibilities in relation to the requirements of a suitable curriculum,
resources and facilities to support the program.

The Department of Education and Childrenís Services is under
no obligations to provide any support or resources.

That the child/children are enrolled at a nearby school.

That the program is reviewed annually.
