Snap Shot

  • The School of the Air was established  July, 7th  1958.
  • The Broadcast Area is in the remote and isolated areas within South Australia.
  • There are 89 students currently enroled in the School of the Air.
  • Students between the ages of 6 and 15 attend the school.
  • The Class Sizes - 
    Reception to year 3 -  15 students
    Grade 4 to 7 - 18 students
    Year 8 - 10 - 19 students
     
  • The School of the Air is funded by Department of Education and 
  • Childrenís Services.
  • The equipment and materials are also supplied by the department.
  • The Radio for communication is called the HR Radio (currently trialing 2 way band satellite radio)
  • Each child has half an hour a week to speak to the teacher about educational or personal issues.
