Many children have gone through the random scribbling stage before arriving at a pre-school setting. From about the age of two (depending on the individual), the child will mark on paper in a controlled scribbling manner. At first the scribbles will be endless lines done in a rhythmic, manipulative manner. Eventually, the child will use eye control as well as hand/arm movement to make the scribbles and to direct their placement on paper.
