The Directors’ Course

The Flinders Drama Centre directors’ course is the only four year training course in theatre and video direction in Australia. Each year a maximum of two students are taken into the program at either undergraduate or postgraduate level. Young adults and professional practitioners from the theatre and television industries have completed the course. Flinders directors currently are artistic directors of a number of 2nd tier companies, of major venues such as the Festival Centre in Adelaide, freelance directors, script assessors with State Theatre companies, of television series and programs and in charge of the education program of Bell Shakespeare company.

There are four separate aspects to the directing course – academic work, class work with the actors, directing productions and specialist directing classes in theatre, video, design and dramaturgy.
