Title Investigating implications for future perspectives: A comparative case study of the status of Modern Greek in South Australian schools.

This is an ongoing research task into Modern Greek Education in the Public, Private and Ethnic Schools sectors of education in South Australia. A case study design is being utilised to identify the state of Modern Greek education with particular emphasis on the historical evolution and community support of Modern Greek education. The study likewise explores the perspectives of students and other key stakeholders with regards to the benefits of Modern Greek language education and Modern Greek language maintenance. Semi-structured interviews will be conducted with people who are directly and indirectly involved with Modern Greek education and learning in South Australia. This will include teachers, principals of schools, community leaders and students in order to ascertain their perspectives. As this is ongoing research only some findings will be presented.
