What is Classical Archaeology?

Stoa of Attalos, Agora, Greece: Photo - Matt SchlitzClassical Archaeology is the study of the great Mediterranean civilisations of Ancient greece and Rome, as well as Egypt and the Middle East.

Classical archaeology is offered as a stream within the Bachelor of Archaeology (BArchaeol) programme and the BA at Flinders University. The courses are taught by staff at the University of Adelaide. For more information about studying classical archaeology at Flinders (via the University of Adelaide) you might like to contact Dr Margaret O'Hea at the University of Adelaide or discuss your options with the Director of Studies, Dr Lynley Wallis.

Please note that Flinders University does not formally teach fieldwork in classical archaeology.

Electives

For a list of elective topics that may be chosen for those students interested in Classical Archaeology, please refer to the current Department of Archaeology handbook.
