Cemeteries

This database contains information recorded from headstones in South Australian cemeteries.  Archaeologists are interested in the personal information recorded on a headstone (such as date of death, age, or familial relationship), as well as the symbolic information held in the epitaphs, motifs and form of the headstone itself.  Because archaeology focuses on the material remains of the past, however, only graves with surviving  headstones or markers have been recorded.  Unmarked graves will not appear in this database.
