Courtesy
Because we will be working on a public site in the hospital grounds you must be courteous to visitors at all times. Part of your job includes politely answering visitors’ questions. People will be curious about what you are doing, as many have probably never seen archaeology being done before, so they are apt to watch your every move and listen to everything you say. Archaeology can be confusing at first glance, and many questions will undoubtedly seem somewhat simplistic. Nonetheless, it is very important that you answer visitors’ questions courteously and never make fun of anyone. If you get asked a question that you are unable to answer, please refer the visitor to a supervisor. Each day two students will be assigned to answer public questions while the others work.
